Congress Faces Pressure to Repeal BOI Reporting Rule for Small Businesses

Josh McLeod of the National Federation for Independent Business (NFIB) explained the federal Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI) reporting rule and why small business groups oppose it. He argued the rule creates unnecessary paperwork, raises privacy concerns, and imposes heavy penalties for noncompliance. Although enforcement is currently paused, Congress is considering legislation to repeal the requirement or permanently exempt U.S. small businesses.
