Connected to the Vine

from Bible Highlights · host Cleandro Viana

Connected to the Vine“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me.” – John 15:4. Have you ever seen a branch cut off from a tree? It may look green for a while, but it soon dries up. That’s exactly how we are when we disconnect from Christ. Spiritual life only flourishes when we remain constantly connected to Him — every single day.Jesus is the vine, and we are the branches. The life-giving flow of faith, grace, and love only reaches us when we’re joined to Him. It’s not about occasional effort or spiritual highs. Abiding in Christ means daily relationship, constant communion, and a living faith.Seeking God only in moments of emotion or crisis won’t sustain us. One day of spiritual excitement doesn’t make up for a week of neglect. If you only depend on Christ “now and then,” your soul will dry up, and the fruit of the Christian life will disappear. Every disciple needs their own living connection to Jesus — no one can live off someone else’s faith. When we stop exercising faith, our hearts start to grow cold. Temptations gain strength. Our joy fades. But when we remain in Him, He remains in us. And then the fruits come: love, patience, self-control, humility, and service. The question for today is: Are you truly connected to the Vine? Or are you trying to live off yesterday’s leftover strength?
