What many grand families don't know is that under federal law, if that child lives with us, we are a party to the case and have the right to speak, be heard.Be at all court hearings and included in all DHS hearings and decisions. You just have to ask for it in writing. If they deny you, they are in violation of federal law. Knowing your federal rights and putting that request in writing changes the entire power dynamic in that courtroom.  We are done letting agencies profit off caregiver sacrifice while families go broke paying court fees.
