How many different Parts do you have? Not like multiple personalities but we all have parts and in today’s episode Lynn talks with Danielle Carron a therapist/coach about IFS and SE and how these practices can help clinicians meet clients where they are and better support a client’s healing journey. In today’s episode Lynn talks with Danielle Carron, M.S., M.A., SEP, LPC, about Internal Family Systems and Somatic Experiencing Therapy and how these practices can help clinicians meet clients where they are and better support a client’s healing journey.Dr. Richard Schwartz, PhD, in his book No Bad Parts, describes Internal Family Systems (IFS) as a way to approach trauma by connecting to an individual’s core or true self. Danielle explains how IFS contains 3 main categories or parts that once identified can help heal trauma:Self or Core - the part that is unshakeable and resilientExiles - the parts that carry pain, often emotional painProtectors - the parts that try to protect the self from exiles (pain)Somatic Experiencing (SE) Therapy was created by Peter Levine, PhD, and is based on the idea that trauma gets trapped in the body and by bringing connection and mindfulness to the sensations of the body one can bring prior traumas or events to completion within the system.Danielle explains how she uses IFS in relationship with SE to address the 3 main categories of self, exiles, and protectors. She helps her clients gain perspective and bring curiosity to identify the exiles and protectors. By moving through the events that created the exiles and protectors with mindfulness and connection, the self or core can let go of what is trapped and an individual can heal.Listen to today’s podcast to learn more about IFS, SE, and what you can do as a practitioner to pull in some of these pieces to help your clients in their healing journeys. If you enjoyed today’s podcast and are interested in more topics to support your clinical practice and treating your clients, find us on your favorite podcast app and subscribe so you don’t miss an episode.  To learn more visit: InstituteforBirthHealing.comABOUT TODAY’S SPEAKERDanielle Carron is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) who holds a Master’s Degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy as well as a Masters of Science in Holistic Nutrition.
