Walking Through Glass: The Podcast is not about breaking through the "glass ceiling" it is about the struggle we face on our journey which I describe as "walking through the glass". Our conscious conversations all about real talk with real women that are doing their best to navigate fear, anxiety, depression, imposter syndrome, limited beliefs, negative self-talk and other belief systems. Join host Dr. Deena as she welcomes special guest Dr. Shelley Henderson. Dr. Henderson is a well – respected community advocate and activist. In 2016, she stunned the political establishment in Orange County when she ran for Newport Beach City Council and, as a first-time candidate, won 43% of the vote! Dr. Henderson served as the President of the Orange County Section of the National Council of Negro Women, Inc. She was also unanimously elected to serve on the National Elections Committee for NCNW. She is an active member of the Orange County Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., a member of the Orange County chapter of the NAACP, and served two years on the Grants Board for Susan G. Komen, OC She is also a member of the Supreme Senate of the Delta Theta Phi Law Fraternity, International – she is the first African American woman elected to that position in the organization’s 107-year history. Dr. Henderson has decided to throw her hat into the political ring once again – she is currently a candidate for Westminster City Council in November 2020! Dr. Henderson attributes all of her accomplishments to the grace and favor of God and she remains grateful for all of His tremendous blessings. She is most proud of her amazing son, Debonaire, who is a recent graduate of Morehouse College in Atlanta, Georgia, where he still lives and works.
