What makes us afraid and what makes us feel a sense of wonder? The meme of anglo women always tripping during the escape, the anglo group always wanting to "split up" to search the haunted house, the anglo guy who confronts the monster without a plan - viewing these things would give most of us a heart attack long before the monster ever got close to killing us. And, "No. I do not want to go camping the Himalayas, or paddling down the Amazon." These things do not inspire a sense of wonder and so my fantasy worlds will not be suffused with such "adventures". And if unicorns have to have their stables cleaned, then NO to that too! Is it true that Is there a difference between how people view horror and fantasy along cultural and ethnic lines?
