Constitutional Court reserves judgment in the Regulation of Gatherings Act case

SAfm — The Social Justice Coalition has argued that it's unjustifiable that its activists cannot find employment because they have criminal records for engaging in a peaceful demonstraton. The Constitutional Court on Tuesday heard the matter of 10 activists who were convicted for protesting at the Cape Town Civic Centre in 2013, over poor sanitation in Khayelitsha, without giving notice. The Western Cape High Court has since overturned the convictions and declared Section 12(1)(a) of the Regulation of Gatherings Act unconstitutional. Wisani Makhubele reports.
