The Constitutional Court has ruled that the President does not have to provide reasons nor a record of his decision to hire and fire ministers. In a judgement today the court found that rule 53 that regulates the review of applications before the courts does not apply to the president. The matter had been brought to the High Court by the DA after the dismissal of then Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan in March 2017 by President Jacob Zuma. The apex court also declared the matter moot as there was a new president and a new cabinet. Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng delivered the judgement...
