Consumer advocacy group defends data center credit standards

from WORT 89.9FM Madison · host WORT 89.9FM Madison

The financial requirements Wisconsin utility regulators approved this spring for large data centers are too strict and could drive away major investors, according to the developers behind a multibillion-dollar campus that’s currently under construction in Port Washington. They filed a petition last week asking the Public Service Commission to loosen the rules. Tom Content is the executive director of the Citizens Utility Board, a consumer advocacy group. He told our News Producer Faye Parks this afternoon that the requirements ensure average utility customers aren’t stuck with the bill if the AI investment bubble bursts.
