Contempromental was created by Melbourne based milliner, costume designer and photographer Laura Dunnington. Laura won the 2021 MIMC Competition with her piece XOX and the Master’s of Millinery Section at the Royal Melbourne Show in 2019. With a background in fine art Laura discovered a passion for millinery through completing a costume course and undertaking a unit taught by Rose Hudson. From there she went onto undertake work experience at the Essential Hat and go on to be offered a position in the team. She founded Contempromental in 2014 creating an edgy and unapologetic asethetic with the use of bold colour, pattern, line and texture.
