Continuationism vs. Cessationism - Canon and Continuation

Are spiritual gifts and miracles merely historical stamps of approval on human messengers? In the series premiere, we launch a ten-part deep dive into the enduring debate between cessationism and continuationism. We start at ground zero by dismantling the foundational cessationist claim: that miracles existed exclusively to authenticate prophets and apostles until the biblical canon was complete. The Logic Check: Why arguing that "miracles ceased because we have the canon" relies on a circular premise. Ancient Near Eastern Context: Re-examining the Hebrew concepts of Ot (sign) and Mofet (wonder) as physical overlaps of heaven and earth rather than mere credential badges. The Character of God: Scriptural counter-evidence proving God heals and acts out of direct compassion, to reveal His glory, and to build up the church—not just to endorse a speaker. The Red Sea Thought Experiment: Why having a completed Bible would not have made God’s physical deliverance of Israel redundant. The Deuteronomy 13 Safeguard: Why miracles were never treated as absolute, standalone legal proof of divine truth in the first place. Grab a cup of coffee and join us as we step past tidy formulas to rediscover the heart behind God's power.
