Once largely confined to insulin-treated patients, it is increasingly being used across the broader spectrum of diabetes care. Yet an important clinical question remains unanswered.Does CGM merely improve glycaemic control, or can it actually help reverse type 2 diabetes?In this episode, Professor Pandiyan Natarajan examines this important distinction and reviews the current scientific evidence supporting both claims.The evidence that CGM improves glucose control is now compelling. Multiple randomized controlled trials, together with recent meta-analyses, consistently demonstrate improvements in HbA1c when compared with conventional finger-stick blood glucose monitoring.But CGM has no direct pharmacological effect.Unlike medications that lower blood glucose chemically, CGM works differently. It transforms invisible metabolic responses into immediate, personalised biological feedback.Every meal becomes an experiment.Every glucose curve becomes a lesson.Every day provides an opportunity to refine behaviour.Large personalised nutrition studies have shown that identical foods often produce very different glucose responses in different individuals.
