Contradiction is the way we make what we perceive

Perception is based on contradiction. We can’t discern music without silence between the notes. An object can only be identified in contrast to what it stands apart from, including a perceiving subject with sensory apparatus (ie. us).Peace is the absence of conflict. One denies the existence of the other.Death only has relevance in its opposition to life. And vice-versa.This is the nature of duality. The world in which we believe we exist.But we made it. It has no reality on its own.Similar to dreams we have at night. No matter how complex the drama, no matter how large the number of major and minor characters that populate the dream, no matter how seemingly real it feels - we still made it all up.When we wake in the morning, we are under no illusions that we made the dream and that its contents weren’t true. The same is true with what A Course in Miracles refers to as our waking dreams - what we call reality. “Contradiction is the way we make what we perceive.” Opposites like happiness and sadness, life and death prove to us this is real.Until we realize there’s another way. Another choice in our mind that ends contradiction and allows us to see (and experience) the joyful oneness that unites us all. Making that choice in the mind ends the dream of suffering and reunites us with the exquisite peace of the real world.Support the show
