ConTruesations Podcast

from WLCH Podcast · host Radio Centro

SACA's Nuestra Clinica Behavioral Health intends this podcast to be open and true conversations about mental health and substance use disorder. The emphasis will be on barriers associated with finding and receiving treatment for these diseases, and the effects on Black and Brown people in OUR community.  We will also discuss the stigma that has been passed down generationally by families that these two illnesses are choice and/or just negative behaviors that can just be "stopped".  We will also discuss discriminatory attitudes that others have about those diagnosed with mental health disorder or substance use disorder. It is not only those who are diagnosed and their family members, but providers of services that have internal bias towards black and brown individuals who suffer with these diseases who we hope to connect with.  Lastly, we hope to offer hope to individuals that feel there is no way out,  though dialogue and treatment options since on size does not fit everybody. Sometimes uncomfortable conversation but always honest. BREAKING THE SILENCE AND THE STIGMA  ONE PERSON AT A TIME!
