Conversations with Kim: Guest Swim Part 2 - Ep#24

from Intuitive Insights · host Kimberly Beam

Show Notes Today, we are continuing our conversation with Swim.  We had learned about where he is now and started to get into the path that led him there. Swim has been on a journey with his mental health.  After being diagnosed with borderline personality disorder, he dove into the history of it and got all the information he could about it.  Swim has a lot of resistance to his diagnoses because he believes that part of it comes from past traumas coming up and gaslighting.  I remind Swim that he is who is and someone has put a label on him.  We as people don’t always quite fit into the full spectrum of the label.   Through his research, he found about 80% that get diagnosed with borderline personality disorder have attempted or tried to complete suicide.  He sees it as a retrospective diagnostic.  A lot of our depression and disorders can only be really solved by dealing with the world.  We need to be able to provide people with opportunities.  People will be honest and talk about a situation that they feel that they cannot get out of, but only the doctor hears is the symptom which then gives them a label or prescription for that.  That isn’t getting to the root cause of the problem. Swim has created opportunities for himself.  He has gone through therapy for himself.  Swim believes that unless we do more to give people something to live for then we cannot be so rash that there are people that do not want to live.  We have to be a little more caring about those aspects of people.  There are so many ways to be able to start. Looking forward to his future, Swim wants to continue his music and build his brand.  He wants to teach philosophy to artists.Dont forget to  subscribe to our podcast and share it with your friends and family.
