Cool Showers and Sunday Travel Changes

from Wake Up Sydney

Wake Up Sydney with Johnny Rocket eases you into a cool and showery Sunday across Sydney on 5 July 2026, with the latest on weather, traffic and train disruptions to help you plan your morning. The Sydney CBD is starting at 9.7°C and heading for a top of 16°C, while Parramatta begins at 8.5°C with the same expected high. Over in Bondi, it’s a milder 12.4°C, also reaching around 16°C, with showers forecast across the city. On the roads, it’s a smooth Sunday start with no major traffic incidents reported and quieter conditions across Sydney. Johnny reminds drivers to take extra care on wet roads and allow a little extra time where needed. Public transport is more affected, with buses replacing T8 services between Sydenham and Central, and buses also replacing trains between Sydenham, Central and Bondi Junction. T4 trains are running only between Waterfall or Cronulla and Sydenham, while South Coast Line services are on a changed timetable and starting or ending at Hurstville. Extra Sydney Metro services are running between Sydenham and Tallawong to support passengers, and Macdonaldtown Station is without power, affecting screens and Opal machines. Johnny also looks ahead to what’s happening around town, including NAIDOC Week events, the National Indigenous Art Fair at Barangaroo, a free NAIDOC open day at the Australian National Maritime Museum, and cosy winter activities across Sydney.
