Cooper Catalano Rising as Badgers’ Defensive Anchor | Wisconsin Badgers Football News

Cooper Catalano is emerging as Wisconsin’s defensive heartbeat, turning heads with his instinctive playmaking and relentless tackling. As a freshman, he led the team with 56 tackles, 2 sacks, and 4.5 tackles for loss, stepping up when injuries struck and anchoring the defense against Oregon. Paired with fellow freshman Mason Posa, Catalano forms one of the nation’s most feared inside linebacker duos, praised for his game-reading smarts and explosive blitzing speed. This season, he’s poised to lead the Badgers in tackles again, with 120 total, plus 5 sacks, pass breakups, and possible turnovers. With Posa stealing the spotlight for flashy plays, Catalano’s consistency makes him the unsung engine of a defense primed to dominate — and attract NFL scouts before his junior year.
