'Cop City' gets funded: so now what?

from The Ron Show · host Ron Roberts

A tip of the cap to the independent local journalists doing a more thorough job covering the #copcity conversation. I start today's show checking in with Donnell Suggs, editor-in-chief at The Atlanta Voice to get a sense of their coverage from yesterday-last night-this morning's city hall showdown between activists and the 11-4 council vote that came to be. What about the many acres the city already has it could have used for such a project? Will there, instead, now, be a referendum to *actually* find out what the citizens of Atlanta want (or don't)? There's more to cover than *just* "cop city," though, so allow me to allow you to eye roll as another Fox News dunderhead stuns us with her wisdom on climate change - oh and this time with some ridiculous religiousity thrown in. Lastly, another Pride Month nugget - a reminder that today's LGbTQIA+ adults were once "hiding in the closet" LGBTQIA+ children, and it's our own insights into the struggles OF such a childhood that makes us uniquely attuned to their mental well-being. In short, we're only interested in their knowing there's a future of happiness and PRIDE for them, too, if they'll just hang in there.
