Coping Through Transitions and Grief

from Crown Yourself · host Kimberly Spencer

How do you cope with change? With every change, there is a grieving process that you go through. But what happens when you are grieving the death of a loved one…or five. In this podcast episode, Kimberly shares how she has coped with change and managed grief.  A personal note from Kimberly… Since 2020 the human species has had to cope with a lot of change. Change of rules and regulations. Change of lifestyle, jobs (i.e. The Great Resignation), schools, habits. Maybe you’ve even changed your health or started your business. Some of the change has been reactionary to external circumstances. Some have been internal, as all change changes us.  In this episode, I share how I have learned to accept change and navigate the grieving process. In January of 2021, I lost my dad, Rock Mackenzie. The following January, I lost my aunt, grandmother, as well as two family friends, one who was just 28-years old, all within three weeks. So not only am I grieving the loss of loved ones, but I’m also grieving Australia and the home we have spent the past 2 years building, as we move back to the US to support my mom…and, I'll be honest…have her support as well with the kids.  But, as soon as we arrived back in Los Angeles, more changes at work happened! And yet, while there is a lot of uncertainty to deal with, there is also lots of certainty and trust that I have built up through these past 6 weeks.  I hope to give you some tools and strategies that have served me to handle change, grief, and to deal with uncertainty, while also running a business, moving countries from Australia back to the US, and managing as a mompreneur with two babies under 5. To say it’s been a lot would be an understatement, but with these strategies, I hope that my experiences, I share what worked, what didn’t work, what I did really well, and what I can improve on as I continue to grow through the grieving process and understand change.  #change #howtodealwithchange #grief ADDITIONAL BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS TO HELP YOU COPE WITH CHANGE AND GRIEF 📚 Top 5 Regrets of the Dying by Brionne Ware: https://amzn.to/3v1Tb7n 📚 It’s Okay that You’re Not Okay by Megan Levine: https://amzn.to/3p0FcKX  AND FOR YOUR LITTLE PRINCESS + PRINCESSES… 📚  Why Do I Feel so Sad?
