Copper Heists and Arrests in City | Calgary News

Copper thefts are spiraling out of control in the city, with four arrests made across two brazen incidents—thieves targeting manholes for high-value metal, sparking chaos, safety risks, and steep repair costs. In one case, cops caught three suspects mid-theft; another saw a suspect sleeping beside a manhole while a second was found inside with stolen telecom cable and drugs. Aurora Felicity Burr, just 29, is charged twice—once for mischief, again with drug and tool charges. Eric Carol Dube, 50, faces multiple counts including theft and driving without a license. Police vow to hold these criminals accountable and restore safety to neighborhoods hit hard by this escalating crime wave.
