Copper Heists Target St Louis Churches | St. Louis News

St. Louis is in the grip of a brazen metal theft spree, with over thirty buildings—including churches—hit since July, as thieves rip out AC units and other equipment for copper. Churches are bearing the brunt: Kennerly Temple Church lost $150K on AC units alone, while Kossuth Church faces $75K just to replace two. Pastors say these attacks, once unthinkable, now feel like an assault on community safety. Police are scrambling to identify suspects, urging anyone with footage or tips to come forward—because those responsible will face full legal consequences.
