Core 52 | A Guide to Greatness — Commands
from LifeWell Messages
After freeing Israel from Egypt, God gave commands not to burden his people but to make relationship possible — with him and with each other. This message walks the Exodus narrative into the Ten Commandments, showing each one as God, the standard-maker, defining how love and reverence take shape. The commandments are grouped: the first govern the vertical relationship with God, the fourth bridges vertical and horizontal, and the rest order human relationships. Jesus repeatedly elevates them to their original intent — anger as murder of the heart, lust as adultery of the heart. The deeper question is why God would give commands he knew would be broken. The answer offered: the law reveals not just what sin is but that we are sinners, exposing the need for a Savior, a strategy for sin God ultimately met in the cross.
