Using the analogy of identity theft and phishing scams, this message argues that Satan has been “fishing” for our identity since the fall. The text is the long single sentence of Ephesians 1:3–14 , where Paul — once Saul, whose identity was pure achievement — repeats “in Christ” ten times in awe. Whenever what we believe about ourselves contradicts what Scripture says, we have been hacked. Paul's claims are unpacked as security: we are chosen in love before creation, gifted with redemption and revelation, and sealed by the Holy Spirit as a guaranteed inheritance.
