This message traces David's fall in 2 Samuel 11 , beginning with the telling detail that he stayed home when kings went to war. Success can be dangerous; comfort is when guard drops and intensity with God dwindles. Temptation itself is not sin — Christ was tempted yet sinless — but David's fixation led to adultery, deceit, and the murder of Uriah, a cascade of cover-up and collateral damage. The strategies offered are plain: don't enter the tempting situation, and when in it, flee ( 1 Corinthians 6:18–20 ). Four facts about sin: it deceives, destroys, is always discovered, and has been defeated. The hinge is Nathan's confrontation and David's repentance — the difference between Saul and David. David's sin was “passed on” to the Christ who, centuries later, would die for it.
