Core 52 | Singing the Sacred — THE GOOD SHEPHERD

Preached as the church scattered into online worship amid a pandemic, this message dwells in Psalm 23 , likely penned late in David's life after the highs of Goliath and the lows of Bathsheba and family tragedy — wisdom forged through ruin and redemption. The central claim: a sheep's life is wholly dependent on the shepherd. The shepherd David names is the same God who parted the sea and breathed out the stars, yet who knows each sheep by name, is the gate of the pen, and uses rod and staff — even painful discipline — to draw the wandering close. Verse by verse it draws out rest, refreshment, restoration, and direction, culminating in a sober note: dwelling in the house of the Lord forever (verse 6) is unobtainable unless verse 1 is true — the Lord is your shepherd, known through Christ alone.
