Corey Alston, Sweetgrass Basket Weaving

Sweetgrass baskets are a 1,000 year old art form that originated on the West Coast of Africa. If you have ever been to the Charleston area, you might have seen sweetgrass baskets weavers along Highway 17 north of the city, or perhaps in the downtown Charleston Market. It was in the Charleston Market that I interviewed Corey Alston, a fifth generation sweetgrass basket weaver from Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
