Coriolanus (2011) — "You common cry of curs!"
from The Kulturecast · host Weirding Way Media
Chris and Sean kick off Shakespeare Month with Coriolanus, Ralph Fiennes's directorial debut, which transplants one of the Bard's lesser-known tragedies to a modern Balkan war zone. Fiennes stars as Caius Martius, a war hero turned politician who finds the state of Rome turning against him, and who then joins forces with his old enemy Tullus Aufidius (Gerard Butler) and the Volscians to take down the city he once called home. Vanessa Redgrave and Brian Cox co-star. It's an interesting, if flawed, film that sometimes follows its source material a little too closely. Chris Stachiw, the Doctor of Podcasting, and Sean Liang talk Ralph Fiennes, Shakespeare's Coriolanus, Gerard Butler, and so much more.
