Corporate Crime: What's the Difference Between Sharp Practice and Dishonesty?

Dishonesty is a slippery concept and it's often a debatable element in corporate criminal cases – but there may be a gap between what the law defines as wrong and what the public sees as morally reprehensible. Increasingly juries are being asked to decide as this "fuzzy" area comes to the fore. The trend is good news for the wider community as it raises ethical standards. It's logical to use the same standards for commercial entities and the rest of us, argues Australia's Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions, Chris Craigie, who believes the term "white-collar" crime should no longer apply.
