from Merrimack Valley Newsmakers · host WHAV Staff

Neighbors helping neighbors. The Greater Haverhill Service Clubs are holding a food drive tomorrow, from noon-2 p.m. to fill the food pantries at Sacred Hearts Parish and the Salvation Army in Haverhill.Lisa Corr, a member of the Haverhill Exchange Club who was a guest Thursday on WHAV’s morning show, says the donations will be helping fill a severe need.“The pantries are really suffering. Sacred Hearts last week, I spoke with Father Delaney, they serviced over 2,000 people. So, they really need our help. They need canned goods, rice, cereal, beans, diapers. If people don’t want to out to the store, you can make a monetary donation. We’ll accept checks or cash. It will all go right to the Salvation Army and Sacred Hearts Church,” she said.Corr is also a member of the Crescent Yacht Club—and those members have been conducting food drives too.“The Crescent Yacht Club did it a couple of weeks ago. Then, they brought the food over. The pantry was empty. The shelves were completely empty so many people came by and donated. We were able to fill it up, but then that week…it gets emptied again.” Corr added.Along with the Haverhill Exchange Club, those helping with Saturday’s Food Drive are the Haverhill Breakfast Exchange Club, Haverhill Lion’s Club, Haverhill Rotary Club, Haverhill Kiwanis Club and Pentucket Kiwanis Club. Donations will be accepted Saturday from noon- 2 p.m. at the Sacred Hearts Parish parking lot, 165 S. Main St., in Haverhill, and at the Salvation Army, 395 Main St., Haverhill. Checks may be made out to the Salvation Army or Sacred Hearts Parish with “food pantry” written on the memo line.Support the show
