Thousands of councillors elected in the upcoming November 4 local government elections will take office to oversee municipal finances and service delivery without undergoing mandatory lifestyle audits. Despite the long-promised implementation of this accountability system, regulations governing these checks are only expected to be finalized by the end of the 2028/29 financial year.
