The race to find the next Archbishop of Canterbury has taken a fresh turn. New reports suggest women are being seriously considered — including Sarah Mullally, Rachel Treweek, and Guli Francis-Dehqani. All three have backed the Church of England’s decision to allow blessings for same-sex couples, so their appointment would likely mean that direction continues. For some this is a sign of inclusion; for others it raises deep theological concerns. What would this mean for complementarian parishes, for the flying bishops, and for the Anglican Communion where many provinces do not ordain women?
