County adopts wildfire protection plan as mitigation efforts expand

The Box Elder County Commission has adopted a wildfire protection plan outlining how the county will identify risk areas, reduce hazardous fuels and coordinate response efforts with state partners ahead of future fire seasons. The plan, approved Feb. 25, covers the county’s wildland urban interface (WUI), where homes and subdivisions border open rangeland, brush and foothills.
