County Seeks Land for Independent Sheriff's Office | Miami News

Miami-Dade County is stepping up to solve the Sheriff’s Office’s urgent space crunch — a critical move as the agency, newly independent since last year, scrambles to build its own infrastructure. With policing now separate from city leadership, the county must identify and repurpose any vacant or underused properties within 90 days, including land for training, storage, or admin. Though an earlier request for five acres fell through, the mission remains: find every square foot that can help this standalone force serve the community better.
