Social Strategy Podcast, Episode 39. Welcome to the Social Strategy Podcast, where it's all about making the most of your business, with smart tips on what's working now in social media, online business, and good old-fashioned networking. And now your host was also known as Ross PR on Twitter, Vernon Ross. Hey everyone and welcome to the Social Strategy Podcast, bringing you the best of online business, social media, good old-fashioned networking, and mindset.

So you know, I was having a conversation with a really good friend of mine via Facebook, and she was talking about how here recently she's lost friends. So the theme of this particular mindset, which happens to be Monday, is about courage, and having the courage to do things and to chase your ambitions, because often I've found, especially when, you know, in the pursuit of greater things, in the pursuit of things that are more than you are right now, and where you want to be, that oftentimes the people closest to you, the people that you call your friends, your coworkers, the people that you surround yourself with are not quite ready to go where you're going, and the journey is foreign to them because they haven't made it. And oftentimes, just as people were fearful of the things that we don't know and the things that we don't understand, and the things that make us grow and make us stretch. So when I was thinking about naming this episode, courage just came to mind because you have to have the courage to choose your ambitions.

And it's just so hard to make those choices because the reality is, is that you're probably going to alienate people, and your ambition is going to alienate people, and it's going to scare people. It's going to make them uncomfortable when you start making choices to educate yourself, and to be better than what you are right now, or to improve upon what you are right now. And it's often with, in this field of, you know, motivation and claiming your power and a positive mindset. People get uncomfortable with that because they think that, well, that's just a bunch of talking into naturally work.

Or yeah, that may be for some people, but not for me, you know, not in what I do and not any of the things that I'm doing, and that kind of stuff doesn't work for me. But it does work and you have to commit to it. I want to read you guys something really quickly from the Motivation Manifesto. Best-selling book by Brendan Bouchard.

If you guys go out to Vernon Ross dot com, forward slash manifesto, you can get the book there for $7, which is just the shipping. Currently the book is for sale right now in Amazon for 20 bucks. You can use that link to get the book and trust me, it is one of those books that you should get. But I want to read you guys a little bit out of the book and it's talking about motivation and ambition and it goes like this, choose your ambition and with full force, expect it as possible, and that you can make it happen.

Give constant attention and committed effort to your dreams and your motivation will perpetuate itself. Demonstrate a positive attitude as you strive for great things and take care to create a supportive environment around you that amplifies your motivation. So what that means to me is that when you are in one of those environments that is not cultivating the dream that you have, you have to remove yourself from that environment. You just do and that doesn't necessarily mean you have to leave those people.

You just have to leave those people alone. You can't necessarily share your dreams with them because they're just going to put them down because they can't see themselves in it, which is what I share with my buddy on Facebook today via some chat thing is that don't share it with them and that's fine. You don't have to because they can't see themselves in it. So they can't see you in it.

And oftentimes that's what limits people. You're living your life or you're living the expectations of someone else's as your life and that never really gets you anywhere. I've been talking a lot about personal freedom and you have to craft your life on your own terms. So what I want you to do today is have the courage to do that.

Have the courage to craft your life on your own terms. How can you condition more courage in your life every day? And what that means to me is how can you be more courageous in the choices that you make in the opportunities that you take advantage of and in the things that you do to move yourself closer to your goals. All right, guys.

So that is it. I hope that this message has served you. I hope that it's motivated you and I'm so grateful that so many of you guys are writing in and telling me how much you enjoy the podcast and especially motivation Mondays. So I want to give a quick shout out to only one heaven.
