Courtney Daniels-Burke on fundraising and research at the Gundersen Medical Foundation
from WIZM - La Crosse Talk Interviews · host WIZM News Staff
As Saturday’s 20th Annual Steppin’ Out in Pink nears, Courtney Daniels-Burke stopped in studio to talk about the Gundersen Medical Foundation, the organization behind the event. Daniels-Burke discusses the different fundraisers the foundation oversees and the many programs supported through that funding. Along with Steppin’ — which begins at 9 a.m. Saturday at Riverside Park — the foundation also organizes the Children’s Miracle Network Radiothon with Mid-West Family, the Drive for Hope for lung cancer research, and other community health initiatives for La Crosse-area students. She also explains how donations stay local to support projects such as the mobile medicine unit and equipment purchases, including NICU camera beds. Heading into the 20th year of Steppin’ Out in Pink, the community has helped raise more than $7 million. Last year’s event brought in $443,000, and organizers are hoping to reach $500,000 this time around.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
