God’s promise does not change when the story moves from Israel to the church. Jesus fulfils the promised rescue, and Peter tells his hearers to repent, believe, and receive baptism. Baptism marks entry into the covenant community, including believers’ children, but neither baptism nor a parent’s faith saves a child. The Lord’s Supper then strengthens those who personally trust Christ, assuring them that His saving work is theirs as they await His return.
