Two thousand four hundred and seventy (2,470) new cases of coronavirus infection (Covid-19) and 2,462 recoveries have been recorded in Morocco in the last 24 hours, announced Wednesday, the ministry of Health. This brings to 123,653 the number of contaminations since the first case was reported in the Kingdom on March 2, and to 102,715 the number of fully recovered people, i.e. a recovery rate of 83.1%, said the ministry in its daily report on Covid-19. The number of deaths rises to 2,194, with 42 new fatalities recorded in the last 24 hours, i.e. a case-fatality rate of 1.8%, according to the same source. The deaths were reported in the regions of Casablanca-Settat (16), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (9) Marrakech-Safi (8), Daraa-Tafilalet (4), the Eastern region (3), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (1) and Souss-Massa (1). The new cases are distributed among the regions of Casablanca-Settat (1,303), Rabat-Sale-Kenitra (232), Daraa-Tafilalet (169), Marrakech-Safi (165), the Eastern region (160), Beni Mellal-Khenifra (124), Souss-Massa (113), Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima (79), Fez-Meknes (56), Guelmim-Oued Noun (45), Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra (17), and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab (7). The number of excluded cases amounts to 2,497,661, after 20,358 new negative analyses. Active cases reach 18,744, with a prevalence of 51.6/100,000 inhabitants. Regarding severe or critical cases, there are 432, 54 of which are under intubation and 128 under non-invasive ventilation. The cumulative incidence rate stands at 340.5/100,000 inhabitants, compared to a 24-hour incidence rate of 6.8/100,000 inhabitants. HM King Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on the occasion of his accession to power. The Sovereign extended, in this message, His heartfelt congratulations to Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, along with His wishes for health and welfare, imploring the Almighty to grant him success in leading the Kuwaiti people towards further progress and prosperity. HM the King expressed, on this occasion, His satisfaction with the "deeply-rooted bonds of brotherhood that unite Us as well as our two families," reaffirming His determination to work together with the Emir of Kuwait to further develop the distinguished ties that bind the Kingdom of Morocco to the State of Kuwait, for the benefit of the two peoples and in the interest of the Arab and Islamic Ummah.
