COVID-19 Facts vs Fiction

from ParaReality · host ParaReality

The COVID-19 virus is sweeping its way across the world, placing the planet in a state of chaos. As this pandemic spreads its way across the United States, causing fear and panic, information about what, exactly it is, how to protect ourselves from it and what caused it, is constantly changing. This is making it extremely difficult to stay well-informed so that you can protect yourself from this potentially deadly virus. Thanks to the information age and fake news, it is also very difficult to discern fact from fiction. Even the doctors and nurses at local hospitals are unsure what is truth and what isn't. If they are finding it difficult to navigate truth from fiction during this chaos, then how can the American public be expected to know what to do? I am a medical professional, who specializes in Emergency Preparedness and as a result, I'm on the front lines of fighting COVID-19, so I know how difficult it is to sort through the ever-changing information in order to pick out what is fact and what isn't. There are all kinds of rumors about what COVID-19 is, how it spreads and how you can protect yourself from it. Just some of the rumors are: 1) you can drink enough water to flush it out of your system 2) you can protect yourself by wearing a mask or bandanna around your face 3) you can catch the virus if someone who has it touches a counter top, then you touch it Of course, all of these things are false and I'll explain why on the podcast. The power to protect ourselves from this virus comes from knowledge - correct knowledge. That begins with calling this virus by its correct name. Learn more about your ad choices.
