COVID-19: Second Wave

from Unpublished Cafe · host Unpublished Media Inc.

PUBLISHED: 24/05/2020 For more than two months Canadians have been cooped up and physically distancing to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. Restrictions are gradually lifting as the infection rate is decreasing nationally. But this means we are far from the end of the road. If there is one thing health experts agree on when it comes to the pandemic, it’s a second wave. Traditionally, these virus outbreaks can come in waves. If you think about the Spanish flu 100 years ago, there were three waves which claimed up to 70 million lives. The weather is better, cabin fever is at an all time high, and some emergency measures have been dialled back. Will this combination lead to a second wave, or will it be something else? ———————————— GUESTS: Patrick Saunders-Hastings - Manager at Gevity Consulting Inc.- https://carleton.ca/healthsciences/people/patrick-saunders-hastings/ Raywat Deonandan - Associate Professor at uOttawa - https://health.uottawa.ca/people/deonandan-raywat ———————————— REFERENCES: https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/canada-s-inevitable-second-wave-of-covid-19-will-expose-surveillance-blindspots-experts-1.4942436 https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/covid-19-lessons-from-a-pandemic https://globalnews.ca/news/6729472/coronavirus-canada-second-wave/ https://www.cbc.ca/player/play/1728955971831 https://www.thestar.com/politics/federal/2020/04/28/ottawa-and-provinces-agree-to-guidelines-that-must-be-met-before-covid-19-restrictions-are-lifted-here-is-what-we-have-to-do.html https://torontosun.com/news/national/second-wave-of-covid-19-could-be-worse-than-first-in-canada-research https://calgaryherald.com/opinion/columnists/opinion-what-covid-19s-second-wave-could-look-like/ https://www.torys.com/insights/publications/2020/04/emerging-from-the-first-wave-of-covid-19-key-recovery-considerations-for-canadian-businesses https://ipolitics.ca/2020/04/01/what-if-covid-19-comes-in-waves-as-other-pandemics-have/ https://edmonton.citynews.ca/2020/05/11/covid-19-testing-contact-tracing-key-to-fending-off-second-wave-experts-say/ https://www.healthing.ca/news/how-the-next-wave-or-waves-of-covid-19-will-look-in-canada https://www.theweathernetwork.com/ca/news/article/beware-second-waves-of-covid-19-coronavirus-if-lockdowns-eased-early-study-lancet https://www.freshdaily.ca/news/2020/03/second-wave-coronavirus-canada/ https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/ottawa/second-wave-covid-19-1.5570905?__vfz=medium%3Dsharebar&fbclid=IwAR1uSzJT2HfFPHpCfPkc4wh6rsrEwYfm_gSPJwEVOc-zQNhbud0SlMA5jnk https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/the-second-wave-will-come-and-experts-say-canada-is-not-prepared-1.4948733?fbclid=IwAR0E5Zl0-KIYTm-F2dZo4Ayljrqcoa-ydRPkWi0l6M5G2fFVPV47iCXn2aY https://www.thestar.com/news/canada/2020/05/22/coronavirus-updates-canada-covid-19-today-may-22.html https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gA8ki4Cbrt0 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wgSsD5DZ3kg https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/testing-wastewater-could-give-early-warning-of-second-wave-of-covid-19-1.4949874 https://www.ohscanada.com/canadas-inevitable-second-wave-covid-19-cases/

Patti Talks Too Much Patti Hi. I'm Patti and it's been said - many times - that I talk too much. I'm a teacher, author, nature lover and for ten years I owned a coffeehouse cafe where my faith in the goodness of humans was restored every day. This podcast highlights the awesomeness of humanity - er...outside the warmongers, globalists, tyrants and politicians in general. You know, the rest of us weird, quirky and sometimes hilarious humans. We'll talk woo, probe mysteries and leave you thinking about something more interesting or entertaining or uplifting than your grocery list, or boss or that oil change your car needs. I talk too much because I can't help my Gemini moon and Leo Rising nature. I do a podcast because it's cheaper, funnier and more productive than therapy.
