(#CovidCast) Covid-19 Vaccine: Why Nigerians Don't Trust The Government
from Joey Off-Air Podcast · host Jœy Off-Air Podcast
Nigerian officials say the country is ready to receive its first COVID-19 vaccine doses by the end of January. The government wants to vaccinate 40% of the country's population by the end of this year. But experts say the cost and storage of the vaccine poses a challenge. Even though reports have stated that President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would be the first recipients of the Pfizer coronavirus vaccine - the first 100,000 doses of which are expected to be available this month, most Nigerians are still yet to accept the authenticity of the vaccine. To mitigate some of this misinformation, a Medical Laboratory Scientist who is also a Medical Journalist, Odinaka Kingsley Obata shared some of the reasons behind the myths as well as accurate information as regards the vaccine with me in this episode of the #COVIDCast.
