Welcome to Dead in Sports, the place where sports opinions galat 13 years of experience bringing you the hottest take and in depth analysis. We once again are here to recap everything that took place in the weekend. We are in football season. So what are we talking about today?
Well, we too was definitely eventful with the Cowboys losing to the Saints, the Bengals losing to the Chiefs, the Ravens losing to the Raiders. And Bryce Young got binged. I'm sure that we'll come up and he has some Kaleb Williams talk before we close out the show with our weekly picks. So make sure you guys stay around for that.
My name is Kenneth B. And join me on the show. We have Nick Spike Fifo, Shelton, and after a heartbreaking loss in which this man was losing it in the chat. Q is here to lose it in front of you guys.
What are we, everybody? It was good. Showing, chilling, chilling. You'd explosive episodes.
Yeah. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
I'm sorry, I'm sorry. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. We'll see. Anyway, man, let's go ahead and get into it, man.
Ah, Lou, you up first, bro. He was lost more recently than my guy was my guy. Last night we didn't get to reach out last night. The reason why, the reason why Lou is so first because he's had the whole speech last episode.
I'm like, I'll be double what he's double what he did. I didn't say it. I didn't say it. He's not saying it's brand new sports.
The reason that I asked you to add the game for us to pick to the schedule because I thought that it may be possible that we lose. I know we get our ass kicked. But you did say that. But you did say that I was a reasonable Cowboys fan and I was being one last episode.
I know this is what happened. I told you don't let it happen. It's like you let it happen. But now I get delusional.
Not like that. That's not funny. Look, look, because the wind of the vision. I look, who picked you to win the vision?
I picked the Eagles. I'm not a delusional Cowboys fan. That was a popular belief. A little quick question for you.
And what point did you turn off the TV? First half at the end of the first half of the whole. He went against on the end of the quarter. I turned the race on at the end of the first half of the whole.
I think I'm a commander's story again. It's not. They brought that nigga back from the game. Where was he?
I'm not even. I'm still playing. I'm tired. Yeah.
Well, yeah, let's go ahead and get into it, man. The Dallas Cowboys, the Cowboys, Adrian Wells, took an ugly loss at home to the New Orleans Saints 44-19. But this is about the Saints, man. You know what the Cowboys are?
We know what the Cowboys have been throughout the last couple of seasons. Let's talk about the Saints, man. Are the Saints a legit contender in the NFC or did the Cowboys just shoot the bed and real quick before I hand it to you guys because I'm mostly going to be driving the show tonight. Shout out to Jaylen, man.
He is like Saints fan and he's had a rough. He definitely had a rough last year. And they're all the sex to marching in. So shout out to him.
He might be the only person with the winning team on this panel tonight. So anyway, man, what do you guys think? I'm going to go ahead and fight. Please fight.
Yes. Yes. Come down to the congregation, man. We all got something.
No, no, no, no. Even if you look at Mike, is you, then is me and then is Nick. Like we all want to talk about that. So say we are.
Okay. I'll be together. Definitely. I do not think the Saints are good.
We've seen this from David Carr before. We've been doing the new school. We don't have any opening drives. Obviously, they're trying to push out there about David Carr being good.
We know that's not true. We've seen this before and it's just not true. The fact of the matter is nothing changed from when we lost to the Packers in the playoffs. We still can't stop the run.
We still don't have a running back ticket to run the ball. Tony Pottle was even better than the people that we have right there now. So if you can't stop the run and you can't run the ball, there's no way that you're going to win because now Michael Parsons can't be effective. See, you can't be effective.
And Dak Prescott just isn't good enough, which I've said throughout all of these recordings before, what you said, I'm a delusional Cowboys fan. I know Dak Prescott is what that do. He ain't the dude is going to save you in a victory like this where he can. Okay.
I'm going to put the team on my back and we're going to win this guy. He's just not that person, which is crazy. He has everything to do with that. He has everything to do with that.
He has everything to do with everything. It's crazy that he's the highest pay offense. You know, look, I already said you don't think where where Cameron was breaking down when you saw what my homes did and what that press got numbers work and they were damn near the same. This has nothing to do with that press guy.
That person gave up 44 points. That person had to give up that. They're going to get down there. 30 some points in the first time.
The reason the reason that we as Cowboys fans are in flux all the time is because we know that Prescott is only a little bit above average. He is never going to win you a football game. That's not going to happen. Especially if you're in trouble like this with the Saints.
Yeah, he can be sorry team that I don't know if the Saints are sorry or not. He is a front runner. I will agree with you. But he's never going to be in the position where you see someone like Kyle and Murray like I'll win that game for them.
He's never going to be in the position like even you saying with Patrick, my homes before, he still will do shit to win you the game. That Prescott will do so much to not lose you the game. He ain't never going to step up and be like, we won this game because it was that press guy's doing and in games like this, that's what you need him to do. And that's why you would pay him $60 million.
If you was trying to win, if you ain't trying to win, you're just trying to be Jerry Jones in the highest valued franchise. And this is what you do. You pay him. You beat me Andrew through seasons and you're like, okay, you win something you lose something you win 100% is on that press guy.
See, and that's why he said Kyle Murray don't have. I never would have thought you'd be too. I saw him week two, but that's why I didn't use him for example. He's better than Prescott.
He's better than Prescott. This is the reason why I call you a delusional fan right here because this had nothing to do with that press guy. I don't give a damn. Who the hell you are?
You down that many points in a barrage and your defense is not helping you at all. That defense is for. You're the highest paying football score. Because you have the best defender.
You talk about Michael Parsons. This guy is a second. They don't know about. Spike, Michael Parsons, Michael Parsons is he's delusional himself.
Is he one of the better defenders in the NFL? But when everybody hits him in the mouth whenever it's time for him to step up. Look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, look, what happens because when you stop, what does that defense fight? I got back to the old man.
He's not a hero. He's not a hero. Because if he wasn't, Spike, they wouldn't put a 44 points in the ease that they did if he was one of the best. They had a good gameplay.
Two tackles. Michael Parsons finger. Michael Parsons is a rush defensive end. And best defensive in the lineup.
No, he can play quarterback. Hey, he can play quarterback. He can play quarterback and he can play safety. He can go without effective games.
He can go without effective games. He can't be the best defender in the game. He's effective win because he's effective win because he's a lot has better people around him. Like, he's a lot's feeling people are hurt around him.
He's a lot's feeling. JJ's feeling that guy. Miles. Gary is that guy.
That's not the best. That's not the best. That's true. When Michael Parsons is in the position to rush the passer, he is the best person in football that does that.
If I'm not playing on a team that puts me in the position to rush the passer and I can't maximize my abilities, then no, I'm not going to be good. These niggas ran away from the beginning and that had to do with the offense and had to do with the secondary and had to do with the linebackers. Michael Parsons don't play those positions. He needs to be put in a position to win.
That's when he becomes the best player in football other than Patrick Mahomes. But if I can put him in a position to rush the passer, then what are we doing? This is on Mike Zimmer. This is on McCarthy.
This is on the defense. It end with it definitely on Michael Parsons. So he has to have perfect conditions for him to be. Michael Parsons is on the defensive.
He has to be put in a position to win. And even if I'm in coverage, if I'm in coverage, if I got to go back and guard tight ends, or if it's second and three, every fucking two rounds, and there's nothing that I can do as Michael Parsons. He's a one trick opponent. That's what you're saying?
He's a one trick opponent. And he's the best at the trick. I mean, he's the best at the trick. I mean, he's the best at the trick.
He's the best. He's the best. He's the best. He's the best.
I mean, I can't even say Mike Parsons is top six defender and he's always... It's because Ruth of the Eagles. He's nice in the league and sacks. Come on, last two years.
Yeah, right. If that's all he does, how could he be the best, if he's nice in the best thing that he does? Because our team hasn't had linebackers. No, I don't.
Our team hasn't had linebackers in the last two years to stop the run. And he's never put in the position where he's doing what he's doing. And that's rushing the passer from the sun. Oh, you know what?
He knows people that you're going to name. They're on better teams to put them in positions to weigh it. That was their team. Nick, Nick, you got Trey Hadrichson.
Does he have a stellar defensive line around here? Trey Hadrich is not. He does not. He's got more sacks than Mike Parsons.
Well, I'll say this, people like Aaron Donald, we're making a name with him before the Jalen Ramses and all these people came like 10 years before he won the Zubo. So you have guys who've been doing it. Like Fletcher Cox was doing it at that position before, you know what I'm saying? We got a stout defensive line to win the Zubo.
Michael Parsons, he's a great gifted player, but the gas is way too much. But to shift from just picking on him, because I think he's a one trick pony, the entirety of the game just showed that much like the Eagles, the defense is really bad. The defense is really bad for Dallas. They cannot get pressure on the quarterback and it's just way too light, bro.
Like they're way too finesse. Isn't that Michael's trick though? That's my point is that if for somebody like Michael Parsons on that defense to get so much slack from the Dallas Cowboys fans, you would at least see two or three plays a game where you're like, that's why we pay him regardless. Because he gets in the backfield, he gets a strip sack.
We at least get another possession. Okay, he starts album, Kim Camara for a big loss, and we get a big third and down. You know what I mean? There's not those plays I see when you neutralize him.
It's just, oh shit, Michael Parsons playing? And I think that's where, just completely unbiased, like that's where I see it, where he disappears off the screen for me. He doesn't pop anymore. Even when the Steelers are getting rowdy by the Chiefs, TJ Watts getting to the backfield and he's getting his hands on Patrick McMones.
I don't see that happening. Max Crosby got his hands on the Marjax on everyone thought that, oh yeah, the way the ripens should be getting this scene pretty handily. Max Crosby is getting his hands on guys on 49ers. You see them getting the back.
He doesn't, like a once, oh, Linus are putting their hands on him. He's like the defensive card cut, cause of man, it's. Can we, can we, can we, can we get some, can we get some cousins, some Saints love and so much? I was, I was, I was, I was, I was going to be, I'm all crazy.
I was going to say, I was in on the cowboy talk to go out the way first, but I was going, I set up the questions like that just for Jalen, just so like we can say that we acknowledge the Saints, not the Saints, the Saints, the Saints, the Saints, the Saints is balling. Now I'm not like, to lose point, I'm not sure how long it's last cause we have seen a season where San Donal started off for and over the Carolina Panthers. So we don't have, we've seen Derek Kardon me as before. We, we know how we have, though, I really don't know what we have.
We have, we have, we have, we have, we have. If we, if we do conversations in Oakland, they're starting out eight, no, I'm one. So I'm just, I'm just saying this, the way, the way the Saints are playing, like what's his name? Rachid, Rachid, Rachid, Rachid.
He's the receiver, he's been bald and says, coming out the gate this season. I like they say, I thought, yeah, I'm Camara, couldn't run anymore cause he was carrying QC on his back. Apparently, he still got it done, just to get it done. But the Saints, I've been very impressive.
Like I think they scored on their like, I think for the first two games, like they scored in there on all their like, like they score every time. So like whoever's their offensive coordinator, give him a round of applause for right now, at least starting off to an O, making us all, you know, question why we, why we kind of underrated the NSC self because right now they're looking pretty good. They're looking a lot better than AFC North, which a lot of people said was one of the best in the division football. So I'm giving a lot of love to the Saints at least for up until this point in time because they're two and only undefeated, one of the few undefeated teams in NFL and you got to give credit to what's credit to do.
Now the Cowboys, I'm not really worried about the Cowboys because I think they're going to still get 12 wins. They always have a shitty game against some random ass team and I think this is just one of them. I didn't expect them to go undefeated and I just, I was just more surprised that they lost like this at home again because the last two games they played at home have been 40 burgers as far as I was. This, this same team, they have a lot of elements to them that works well.
Both lines played super well in this game. You know, you got some guys on that team that were fearless. It was yards. Al Mcamar was three four yards downfield before he was touched by anybody on several of those plays.
So they dominated up front, which is how you win football games in the NFL. Second thing about the Saints team that I do notice that is not getting mentioned enough is them DBs is dogs. All of them do is dog and they all come to play. You know, they use Kool-Aid who had, he was actually playing in the reserve row.
He started because I forgot it was in front of him that got hurt, but he was one of the MVPs and just dog in this game. He was killing it and they deserve a lot of credit because they punched Dallas in the mouth and they never let off the gas. There was nothing anybody could do. And in that, that's the end kind of.
That could have did something. You know, that could have did something. He would have had the same thing. He would have to go in every position.
And that's not really. I mean, you make 60 million dollars a year. You should be able to do that. No, it's not.
I don't know why that's on. I don't know why that's out of the question. We ain't talking about Patrick Holmes. They got a better football team than we do in Dallas.
I'm talking about if I'm paying and Patrick Holmes is not the highest paid person in the league, that he's the best. But he's the best. And the best guy. That's what's the expectation.
No, we mean that's what the expectation is. The expectation is if I'm paying you to be the highest paid person in the league, then you should make me be able to compete every week on a week and we got basically no football games like this No, no, no, don't look at the money. You look at the value that you bring to the team and he brings a certain value. He keeps Dallas competitive.
He holds in the playoffs. But you can guarantee you're going to be there most of you. You don't get a shot. I like that.
If you pay somebody 60 million dollars and you can't expect him to go out and compete with Joe burrow. You can't expect him to go out and compete with Patrick Holmes or fucking David Carr on a weekly basis. And you're saying, oh, I had to score every time you had to make a show job. That's what we're trying to do.
before he goes before he goes before he goes before he goes. I know no no care about their car because he keep calling We moved to the next topic other this people They don't pay that to tackle they don't pay back to go get interception They pay your boy might go to go do that they pay your boy back to go score point in the last time I checked last season. They were the number one offense. That's partly why he got the bread that he got right So to everything you said I agree with you But at the end of the day, again, this and it had that with back.
Well, they let's go to some points in the game. 19. 19. OK, almost one.
Oh, 44 points given up by that defense dog is the reason why you are addressed to the right side of the ball. Stop talking about that. They were the defense. You're right.
The defense had a lot to do with it. However, it's throwing 19 points against Derek card to say it's unacceptable. All right. Except.
Let me ask you if this is acceptable. Joe Barro, O and two, the Cincinnati Bengals are now O and two after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road 2625. Did the Bengals lose this game or the Kansas City will win it? Nick, Nick, which is part of you, Nick.
The one thing I'm glad I don't have to say is that I'm glad everybody basically watched that game because I think statistics came out that it was like over 28 million people watched that game. I think it's the most highest rated game. I see you guys have to know game in the like the last 20, two decades or something like that. So I'll just go out as cut the shortest, the shortest way to the to the main points.
In my opinion, Bengals fumbled that football game. That was the defense went from shit to sweet in one week's turn. As far as they played Patty, like I think the two games in Patty's career, where he's looked the worst, I've been against Cincinnati. The year that the Bengals went to the Super Bowl and the AFC championship game and in this game because I went for less than 160 yards and two to three interceptions.
Like that's I didn't expect that out of the defense going into that game. So the defense put it on the offense. The offense just didn't get it done. The two plays that I call out is one, obviously the borough fumbled, which some could argue was questionable as far as what he down or not.
But it is what it is because we took back the lead after that fumbled six. And then of course the last recession of the game with the passing interference, it was a passing experience. I'm not going to be one of the ones that blames the refs. However, there was a play earlier that was exactly the same way that did not call when it was, I think it was where she writes, it was the exact same way.
We came to the break, like he jumped on them and blocked the ball down. They didn't call it a passing experience at that point in the game. But they did end the game. So I just wish there was more consistency with the refs.
However, what we always say is that you don't put the game in the rest hands. You go in the game. There was just a lot of mental errors, the Jamar chase, young at the refs. When it was a key third down that we needed, did not help.
And then the one thing I wish the exact Taylor would have been expected was that one third down where I think the three minutes left in the fourth quarter, burrow has the ball third down. We know Steve Spagnos is going to do a blitz. One of these days to get us off the field. And I'm surprised it wasn't any pass for text to pass protection, especially with how much we were using the tight ends that game to block an extra blitz or an extra person coming in to at least do like a quick dump off to get like at least a few more yards to see what happens.
Maybe go for a short but for the most part, I did like how burrow looked. He proved that his wrist is not an issue because he was throwing the ball down the field. It was just mental errors. I think it was mental errors.
Make a couple of things. I feel like the Chiefs took this and I'll get back to that. On that blitz that's like no, Lo had it was that DB was nowhere near the line of scrimmage. So it didn't look or feel like a blitz.
It looked like the rest of the coverage that they pretty much played the whole game. So that caught them by surprise. You know what I'm saying? It is what it is.
But this game to me, the Chiefs took it because there's only two ways that you win these type of games. Either you take it, meaning like you just stop all your opponents neck and you make it like the Cowboys same game. It don't matter what the other quarterback does. You're going to take this out or you have the ball in the end.
And whoever was going to have the ball in the end was going to win this game because burrow is that guy. Right. I believe that burrow was top three, top four on everybody's list. We did the top quarterbacks and obviously we want everybody's list up.
Okay. Then this was wrong. Keep going. Okay.
Whatever. And number one on everybody's list was the homes and when you have those that level of quarterback and having to regardless, they make mental errors. It's that there. It comes out to who has the ball last and my homes had the ball last and they won.
You know, that's the reason why I say Kansas City took it. Were they fortunate on that call? Of course, but it was what it was. But whoever had the ball last was going to win this game.
And for me, I see the times they talk about say with Joe, Captain, say with Joe. Whatever my thing is, though, is again, I say the arrows were on the Bengals because if Joe like Ken called it out last week, as far as his fumbling issue, which it seems to be already starting the season, if he doesn't fumble that bar, if he's at least text the ball going down, that's not six points going that way. That's something that has nothing to do with Patty. That's on Joe.
And with the defensive pass and offense regardless of everything stayed the same, if the defender doesn't jump early, it could be a different game. Not great. I'm going to pat it through it right to the guys hands or whatever. But situation for all, you just don't know if the guy was going to make a play.
And it was a rookie. So it's just another rookie mistake that a bangles player has made in a key game. That's where I'm focusing on the bangles issues. I'm more as because to me, defensively they handled the Chiefs.
Like they couldn't handle Trehandles. They couldn't handle Trehandles. And he didn't handle. He didn't handle.
He was getting held pushed like he was there was so many calls that could have been made. Again, I'm not going to put this on. I'm not going to put this on the rest, but there was a lot of calls that I was like, OK, it's the Chiefs at home. So they're not going to give us that.
But at the end of the day, it was like, but you just can't beat yourself. It's always like you just can't beat yourself. But even in even with Joe Burrow, his again, the same way I came out, Jaylen Hertz as far as losing the Super Bowl with that fumble. Joe lost his game with that fumble.
He even admitted to in the post game. But there were some times where like that that that throw he had to Mike is sick. He really just dropped it right before the fumble is like, we don't have that fumble. If he catches, that's the easy first down and we moving on to the next play.
It was a fun straight name. But that's why I'm drinking now because it's just it was a game. It was a game. It was a game that you did the win.
You know what I was saying real quick, because there's no handle retort. You know what I was saying about football. It's not if you make mistakes is when you make mistakes. And that's what this game came down to.
The point you think Joe Burrow did enough to win that game from? Yes, because they still had lead at the end of the game. If it wasn't for the last that's the difference between the lead quarterbacks and deck press. He did enough to win that game.
It's a back press. I did not. But he did enough to win when you vote confidence in somebody like a Joe Burrow or Patrick Mahomes or the lead quarterback in this lead. It's just put us in a position to win.
Joe Burrow did that. Well, here's the thing. He deck put you position to win the game. The first game and they want it.
Joe Burrow. Get the back of the way. Okay. Joe Burrow.
I want to hear you. I want to hear you. Well, we know the Cowboys. We got to talk about the Cowboys.
So what do you wish your thoughts on this game? Because I can already hear the haters in your voice. I just want to get out the way. I'm just being real.
We don't keep it real. Let's keep it. Like you might say, let's keep it to me. I mean, he's been unimpressive in these first two games.
Now, we'll grant it the fact that he's not, you know, Chase is not, it's not looking real good. But at the same time as that Joe Burrow is at Chase. So it's looking like he's he's keen that this game, he threw it at his tie in the line, which is, you know, it worked to a certain degree. But like you said, the defense stood up.
So he could not have done enough. Either he didn't do enough to win the game or the defense didn't show up. And I think he could have showed up. Maybe that was the game plan to throw to the tight answers.
I was like, I was like, I said, he put them in position to win. Like even with Joe Burrow and how you saying that he performed still at the end of the day that you could see the bingles winning this game. And that's the difference between a great quarterback like Joe Burrow is someone like that Prescott. I want to go back to the Cowboys.
They got understand with that, like Joe Burrow is that good. Like even with all the shit that happened with him, that they were going through in his game, he still put them in a position to win his game. If he went for a bone head penalty by Jamal Chase, they probably could have won. But look what I'm saying to you this, that did put you in a position to win a game before you won and won.
I'm telling you, you can't risk. I mean, it's the same thing. It's the same thing that we talked about with the Super Bowl that just happened this past season with the 49ers when Rock Party went off the field. They had the lead.
It's not on the defense. So like if you're, if you're, if I'm going to commend the defense for most of the game and that was a great pick by a cam-tain race. Yes. Oh man.
I told you I was on list because he was talking shit about where he was right on where he got burnt by rice, but he was worried he was scared of where he came to his table. He was shit but rough and he locked hands up. But I would, what I'm saying is what I'm saying is like, again, it's, it was a rookie mistake. Cause like, again, if, if that ball gets batted down and that was fourth and 16, so that's initially ends the game.
We're not talking about Joe Burles issues. Like we're talking about it now because obviously that fumble six is what cost us the game. True on Joe Burles, but at the same time, they were still in the lead with the last minute, 30 left in the football game. All they had to do was just play good defense, which they did up until that point up until that last minute.
Like we don't get that penalty. We won the game and we're one in one just like what you're about to say with what other team with the Cowboys. Right. Hey, something funny I saw that they said was after that pick because I thought I was like, that's the pick of the year.
And they were talking about John Madden saying they had so much stick them on the gloves. So you're going to catch without even hanging in the ball and the kiss of the ball. So I'm like, man, that's just ruined it for me. Cause I'm thinking, man, these dudes is making plays and I forget they do got stick them in the gloves and it's easier to make a catch like that when it's just on stick to you.
And if that's the case in a real estate, a lot more catches like that. I ain't see the DV like the catch like that in a minute. Right. Especially against, especially against Patty.
That's what I'm saying. Yeah. I'm randon of stat real quick, bingo stack. Cause you know, it seems like throw these in here every once in a while.
From Joe Burrows, Ricky season to today, the bingles are 14 and 17 and one in the months of September and October, 13 and seven in the months of November, December and December and seven and one in January, which includes the playoffs. That's, that's that is all to say is I'm not worried until we're the week six, week seven, because we got some easy games. We got the commanders, we have the Panthers and we got the Giants in the next four games. We do face the Ravens in between that.
Um, if we're not at least three and three, four and two by that time, like we lose more than two games, two more games basically come up in the next four weeks. Then that's what I really be concerned, but I'm not really concerned now. I like how again, if T Higgins is playing, he's done with a hamstring. We may see some different, but I don't know.
She's got stepped up. I just want to see what this with this team looks like as we go along the season, but we got to be at least three and three, four and two by the time we get to weeks six up. What about the city by Patty? Shut up.
Oh, I was saying, um, he is, he, that way in these games, but I'm still watching Patty. I don't know if it looks right. And it's not necessarily him. It's the fact that this cast of characters that he has out there with him, but the other guy he does is every year.
He has a bunch of people that you know, you do this every year. Now Patrick, my homes, I didn't know. I didn't know. I didn't know.
But even if I didn't know, I was with you, I told you that you can't, no, I was with you, but it's just looking at these guys now. It's funny because we don't know, you know, now I will say this, this year, it's going to be interesting to watch now, if the check goes going down for six eight weeks, because I are he's on the road. He's on the road. And then the rookie, the rookie got the fumble.
Like we had three turn passes to one of them. Yeah. Rookie. My, my thing with, I guess quarterbacks in general, start off the season, they're all looking, at least the ones that we consider elite, they all haven't really played that well.
And maybe it's, and a lot of people keep on bringing up the lack of preseason, the lack of preseason and why everybody look at Rusty. We'll see how it plays out, but I mean, shit, again, I never, I never criticized Patty. I was criticized as team. Now, regardless of the worst of Patty, it's still too, no.
So right. The lack of good quarterback play, it's offensive lines. Like offensive lines are not good. They're terrible.
Like it goes back to college that they're not being taught the right way to block, especially past blocking. And it's so different than it is in college from the NFL. So now you're getting these things where like even good quarterbacks are not given enough time to be able to make the right decisions and make the right plays that they've been installed in the office. Office of live play has been atrocious in the NFL of the last weeks.
And it's funny. Y'all are bringing back Green Putty sign three months at the practice guard. I was going to say that, you know, it was, I was thinking like, that's the obvious choice. Seeing as how he's been there, it has success in the past, not the same thing, but it's still be better than Zeke going to Dallas.
You're right. Tom, right. We're saying, Tom. Tom, right.
Because I know that's not. I know, right. But he was talking about, you know, they don't have programs in college, but you know what you were saying? He was saying they used to have programs where you had to work your way up the chart to get to a certain position.
So you had to actually work. He said he started, he was seven string when he got to Michigan and worked his way all the way up to a starter. When he got to the NFL, he had to work his way up. He said, they're rushing these guys out here and you're expecting them to be day one starters without playing the preseason snap and they need to play when I get enough reps to get them out there and be prepared to go out there.
And this office of linemen, it's all around, you know, and you guys are being microwaved and rushed out there. Everybody's not jober. Everybody's not going to hit the ground running that first day and be prepared. This is not going to work by that.
And without the preseason, I don't know how you can do it. The preseason, these first three weeks to me are the preseason. So, you know, it's going to be difficult to when you look at the steps, I think the league wide, they're only averaging like a hundred and eighty-some passing yards. That's that's like horrible.
I think last season, I think the league, I was like two hundred and twenty seven, two hundred and thirty-seven yards a game and we're almost 50 yards down. So yes, it is all line play. I think it is defensive adjustments. And I think quarterbacks and offensive just offenses are just not in rhythm.
These first, you know, I keep saying it two to four weeks, you got to get a little bit of time because especially offensively, it's choreographing, you know, say it's choreographed. You have to understand and have a feel defense. You can kind of just go out there and let the dogs lose a little bit. Office doesn't work that way.
We're seeing. I wonder if that program we're going to help DJ in Clemson, because we pin and every program, you know, it's time to break. What about goddamn programs and shit? Oh, yeah.
Yeah, he's in Florida State by bad. You jumped your back. And you want to talk to the bingles before we move to this next scene and that same. No division.
All right. I won't stop being so nice. So you got to come back to the left. I think it's still win it.
I think it's still win a division. Who I think still even 0 and 2 and only 5% of the playoffs seems to start out. Oh, and 2, excuse me, only 5% of teams that make the playoffs start out. Oh, and 2, I still think that they will still win it.
I think that's not going to start changing over the years, especially with teams playing less and less and preseason work this stuff out in the first couple of weeks. You're going to have teams start hot that aren't really good and then a good team is going to catch fire. So yeah, that's a that's a cute stat and it's an accurate stat. But I would love to see that stat over the next five to 10 years.
I wish you can. Yeah, it is real. Mm. All right, man.
Well, what about the Ravens spike? Do you think they can win the division? They are one too. After the Las Vegas Raiders secured an unexpected comeback victory against them on the road 26, 23, the two time MVP.
Which side of the football country more when it comes to the Ravens, the defense or their offense? The defense, the lost Patrick Queen, the Pittsburgh over the offseason. The Ravens could easily be torn. Oh, and we not having this conversation, but that's not the case.
I don't know if there is a path with John Harbaugh's offense and what they do offensively for them to turn it on. Like now they're on to they working their way out of a hole and they in one of the hardest divisions in football. It still is a two and all the Browns. No, I mean, the Browns are the Browns, but they can beat you on any given week.
And then you still got the mingle since your borough. I don't know just because of the division that they're based in. If they can bounce back from this, I want to as a big hole for them, especially for someone like Lamar, like it looks good and it's supposed to work every week. But if the most dangerous offensive weapon that you have is Lamar taking off and running.
I don't know how effective that can be as far as you going a long way in the playoffs or like he went to BP's doing that because he's going to look great. But as far as my team winning games and going to the Super Bowl, which what we expect them to do based off of last season, I'm not sure that that can happen. There should be genuine concern in Baltimore. I don't know is that Lamar wins them.
They're 70% of his games, right? So we're talking about wins and losses to me. It has none to do with the defense because he had a loss Patrick Queen, but they got a real class Smith at Oaklox is better in every single way, which is why they left back to Queen though. They also have another linebacker that's up and coming transcendence.
You know what I'm saying? So I think they'll find out the linebacker. I'm not worried about their defense. I'm worried about their offense.
And the reason being is you go and get a guy. That's why we considered a top five running back still and he's not getting touches. Not, not even getting touched. He's not even on the field, right?
And we know that their best offensive weapon outside of the Mar Jackson, the best past catching weapon that they have is Mark Andrews. Mark Andrews is, is, is not anything in catch. You're not even getting targets. So to me, what's concerning is the offensive side and it's not the personnel.
It's the play calling. It's, it's, it's the packages. It's how they're utilizing this offense that is supposed to be elevating LaMour so LaMour doesn't have to run as much. So LaMour can't take his foot off the gas.
So when he does have to put his foot on the gas, it's all there are juggernaut and that's not happening. So to me, I think that I'm not saying that they're going to be the best running back in the league, but I think they're going to have enough in the tank for him not to be in the game on critical possessions in the last seven minutes of game. What the hell? Why did you go getting him?
Why did you sell his beer? Good. We had two footy westerns. He was good.
He was good. But he's not in there when you need him to be in there. He's not in there in those short packages. He's not in there.
Um, you know, a fourth and shorts. At the end of the day, my thing is the offense doesn't look as explosive as we thought it should be. And that's what's concerning to me. It's the play calling and it's the execution of often.
I had this game. They, they had this game one. Um, there's no reason they should have lost this game after a pet talk, pet talk from, um, Devontae to those guys, man, they came out in Grime. And turned up down the stretch and they couldn't keep up.
I think what they're going to have to do is rely more heavily on the run game. Get out there, likely involved even more because my injuries is not, you know, Vegas received looking people right and he's like, not looking to form. And, you know, keep those other guys going, keep Lamar being Lamar, that he knows how to win. We've seen him do it with less.
So I think it's very important to establish around. You got one of the best running backs in the league still to the day. Season wide, season wise, I'm not worried about the Ravens. I don't, I think there's a lot of going to even had one too, because like people said Lamar wins regular season games, like he, you don't have to really question him in that.
My thing is more long term. It's like this off, this team has really started loses identity ever since the AFC Championship game because they're not really doing anything great like they did last season, like defensively they get carved up. If you get carved up by Garner mentioned, I know he was a pro bowler. I think last season, but I feel like they just be throwing that baby, let anybody in there for those games, but to get carved out by Garner, miss you in the second half like that, especially if you're when they were up at one point in the game, twenty through the 13, that just seems like, or like what's going on defensively?
And then offensively, you, I think they only ran the ball with maybe five to eight times that second half or something like that. Like to Fifos point, I do want to see more Derek Henry like, like, people, we played Madden and you know, you know, you're not shy about running about with Derek Henry like that. So it's just like, I'm kind of wondering where like, what is this? What is this office like?
Like you can't tell me what this office identity truly is because they don't have any past, past catchless, the passing offense. Lamar has shown us so far this season and going back to late last season that he's not the pastor that would can like, Patty, where he can make, make guys get open or like, you know, throw the ball to where they had, there's no way for them not to catch it. And with, with hard ball to me, again, this is why I had him, I had him top 10, but I was he's literally at number 10 for me. I need to see more from him as a head coach.
Like there's just more, what do you mean though? I need to see more as far as like game plan wise, game plan wise. What are we trying to do for this week for this team? What do we do?
Well, and let's emphasize on that. Re Baltimore is known as a defense run game, but they again, like I mentioned so far this season, they have not looked like that. Their defense, their secondary is getting carved up and Devontay, I don't tell you what, honey, ours and the tuddy and stuff like that. Like it's like, come on, bro.
Like what are we talking about? I mean, this is Devontay Adam stuff. Yeah, but it's Gardener issue. That's a good way.
But Gardener has, you look at his numbers every time he has an opportunity to start. He is beyond solid. So, but Nick, I do agree with you with John Harborn. And that's the overarching point I was making.
I focused on the offense, but you know what I was talking about. I feel like the greatest coaches can creatively scheme guys, right? Open and get your quarterback a couple of easy throws and get a rhythm. But I 100% agree.
What is their identity? You go get the most bruised, the most bruising back in the league, but you're not a bruising offense. You have the audience. I'm a day away.
We have one of the top three tight ends that is not just a pack. Like he is a physical guy out there. He looks and maybe he's not maybe he's not back right. 100%.
We don't want to know, but he's out there, right? But you also have, I just don't understand what the identity is. The identity is we have one of the most dynamic players at quarterback that was to play the game and we want to put the ball in his hands in order for him to win games for us. But I don't think that the other the rest of the team, the defense, as I said in the beginning, they're not doing enough for what believe winning on a March.
Accent to win us a game. They not only knew that. But Lou, you've lost the last time. You lost the last three games trying to do what you just said by just by over utilizing Lamar and not really having identity.
It's not like a deck press situation where you get below out. What do you want to bring up? It's just one. It could have won both of these games.
They lost one game. I just told you the biggest could have won two, but they didn't. So we got to go off right. So they got the identity for Lamar Jackson isn't wrong.
They just not doing the right stuff in the coaching room to continue to put him in a position. It's not only if the only way we can win games is Lamar Jackson running and doing everything. It's the same thing that we've said about Josh Allen in the past. Like we put if we do too much with this quarterback, it really doesn't give us the results that we want.
It will win us a few games here and there. But like you mentioned, starting off on two isn't good. The only reason I get the bangles grace is because I've seen them actually get to the playoffs deep. They play out from us by doing it.
But no, I don't want no one start. I don't want my team or I don't want. If I was a Ravens fan, I went to go home to go on a mission. Y'all on.
And I hold on real quick. You and I just got a statement. I just want to point out the Ravens can legit be on for. They next you.
What's the game? They play the bills and then they play the bangles. And I think they play the Cowboys this week. Oh, sorry.
Yeah, they play the Cowboys bills and then the bingles. That's a number one. Oh, five. What you got?
They'll be at least one and three. Which is just taking me thinking. Skip on the queue. Who was actually in the word?
No, I mean, John Harvey was always been a little bit fraudulent. I don't think that he's like Joe Flacco saved his career. Like, you know what I mean? That miraculous is Super Bowl with Ray Lewis.
John Harvey never really gave me like five codes. He was always a beneficiary of like miraculous runs. And once again, like Lamar Jackson saving his career again, by being this miraculous draft pick, it's just, you know, he's never been a guy to have schemes and never been a guy that had offensive identity. He's never really had much.
But he's had solid defenses to great defenses. It's kind of like Lamar is like a Ferrari, but you don't take a Ferrari to Walmart. You know what I mean? You take your you take your shoe a little.
You shouldn't you take your Subaru to Walmart because you don't want to put unnecessary miles on you. You feel me? Like you don't you don't take your May back to fucking Texaco. Like you know what I'm saying?
Like that doesn't make any sense. You take your Honda to the small places and what I'm saying is use Derrick Henry. Like Derrick Henry should be for you know, saying a short yarded situations and they need to lean on him. I would run him three straight downs.
Like I would just see what the offense looks like. I would bring more, you know what I'm saying? Like run option with him just to see what it could look like. You should experiment all these next two three weeks just to see what it could look like if you're a more run centered offense.
If you're using too much of Lamar Jackson skill set, like I said, man, you don't take your luxury vehicle to Publix. Like you know what I'm saying? Like who who who who who who hold on it? Hold on.
It's kind of like it's kind of like when the Lakers got brought in a B, right? Like, you know, those those two are your best guys. Put them in pick a role. How are you going to guard it?
So what the morning Derrick put them in RPO situations like what are you going to do? That's your thing. I don't think I'm right. I don't think I'm right.
They're going to run this out of time. Hold on. First off, you are you you could rush straight down the middle, like, you know, saying I'm not saying do that the entire game. What I'm saying is is that you got to make the defense make a decision.
We will get pounded pause by Derrick Henry or we going to say let Lamar get loose. The two time MVP is going to. Yeah, I'll get soft, bro. I'll say it's off.
Where the little is that? I'll say it's I'll say it's I'll say Baltimore is a. You said you're going to get it. What do you mean?
Like my problem is that Baltimore doesn't really have scary offensive talent outside of Lamar is the system. We know that. But the QB can only do so much. And it's like, I'm not really moved by Zaflowers.
