Coyote Tales

Ahoy, my friends! Welcome aboard the Afro Tales podcast. Join your Griot, Amon Mazingo, as we embark on an enlightening journey through the rich narratives of Indigenous and African descent cultures in the Americas and the Caribbean. In this episode,we hear three delightful stories that reveal Coyote's relentless pursuit of cleverness, often leading him into humorous predicaments. The first tale, "Coyote and His Bow," showcases Coyote's desire to outsmart the other animals in a quest for the largest bow and arrow, only to find himself outwitted by his own cleverness. Next, in "Coyote and Skunk," we witness Coyote's failed attempts at hunting, leading to a comical partnership with Skunk that highlights the unpredictability of trickster dynamics. Finally, "Coyote and Turkey" takes us through a series of lies and misunderstandings, ultimately teaching Coyote a valuable lesson about perception and reality. Each tale weaves together themes of wit, resilience, and the complexities of character that define the trickster archetype across cultures.
