Create in Me
from The Truth Church
Pastor Hilton preached from Psalm 51:10, 'Create in me a clean heart, O God,' emphasizing that God's creative power did not end on the sixth day; He still creates in believers today. The sermon argued that humanity's inherent wickedness, as seen in Genesis 6, requires divine intervention. Using Acts 17:30, the pastor stressed that while God once winked at ignorance, He now commands all men everywhere to repent. From 2 Corinthians 7:10-11, he distinguished between worldly sorrow, which produces death, and godly sorrow, which leads to genuine repentance and salvation. He detailed seven fruits of authentic repentance from verse 11: carefulness (diligence in seeking correction), clearing of oneself (obtaining a defense for past sins), indignation (anger at the enemy when forgiven sins are recalled), fear (dread of repeating the offense), vehement desire (earnest longing to please God), zeal (ardor in pursuing righteousness), and revenge (allowing God to punish the enemy for tempting the believer). He warned against a 'once saved, always saved' mentality among apostolics and cautioned that outward religious performance—like speaking in tongues—without heart repentance is worthless. He concluded by exhorting the congregation not to create their own limited image of God, which is modern idolatry, but to let the infinite Creator remake their hearts and minds, restoring their value and purpose.
