Librarian Crystal Mendoza and Counselor Dr. Valerie Paredes share their unique collaboration to create a Mindfulness Corner at the ILC in UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High located in Harlingen, Texas. The Mindfulness Corner’s main objective is to give students and staff an area to de-stress and relax. The Mindfulness Corner’s resources include puzzles, a relaxation area with blankets and pillows, games, de-stress toys like pop-its, stress balls, and fidget spinners. This unique partnership between librarian and counselor has brought attention to mental health and has benefited our students’ and staff’s well-being by providing a safe space on campus to practice self-care.
