Creating ‘Glo-ments’ with Anthony Ikin

from Just as Planned · host Just as Planned

Hi everyone and welcome back to the Just as Planned TV show and Podcast. My name is Amanda Lutvey from Marry Me Amanda and I am one of your hosts for the Just As Planned Podcast this season.  I have been so excited about today’s interview. We are joined by Anthony Ikin one half of the creative duo behind ‘Glo Events’. Glo Events is a visionary creative house dedicated to crafting and delivering the most spectacular events in town. Whether it’s a milestone celebration, brand activation or gala ball, the Glo experience is fearlessly creative and elegantly daring. Anthony grew up in a footy-obsessed family. At age 6, he ran onto his first football field…. or should we say, his first stage to perfect his cartwheels whilst his teammates played on. His parents soon realised that scrums and tackles were not his forte and that he had a penchant for performing under stage lights. Anthony went on to become the World Aerobics Champion, a top-10 finalist on the TV show So You Think You Can Dance, and a can-can soloist in the Parisian cabaret Moulin Rouge. Pirouetting from on-stage to behind the scenes, he has worked as a Creative Director and Choreographer on a glittering portfolio of global projects. These include a career highlight of choreographing the closing ceremony of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games and, most recently, adding his dance flare to the iconic musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Anthony’s background, together with his husband Pete’s background as a TV producer on some our favourite shows (including MAFS and The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), has seen them travel the world working in a creative capacity across so many mediums. It seems such a natural step that this creative pair started their own event company and I am thrilled to have Anthony with us to share their story, share some insider tips and to treat us to some of his amazingly positive energy…
