Creating Safe Space For LGBTQ+ Youth

Meet Daughter of Change, Loretta Prescott. I’ve known Loretta since our radio days, many moons ago. She was on-air and I sold the airtime. From the minute I met her, we were simpatico. Over the years we have stayed in touch, and I have been unduly impressed by the passion she brings to helping others through her work. I’m so happy to have the opportunity to talk with her today and introduce her to all of you. Loretta started her nonprofit career in 1999 in Portland Maine. Her work has included organizations large and small throughout New England that work for social justice and to empower disenfranchised populations, like the YWCA, Girl Scouts, Special Olympics, and the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project. She is a graduate of the University of Maine with a double major in Journalism and Broadcasting, has been a member of Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, Association of Fundraising Professionals, and National Association of Charitable Gift Planners,Loretta is the proud mother of a queer daughter with her husband of 38 years. Her first career, broadcasting, started in 1983 on the radio in Portland and led her to Washington DC and Boston on-air gigs.
