Types and Shadows – Col 2:17, Heb 8:5, 9:9, 10:1. d. Job and Noah used as a type of remnant Israel – Ezekiel 14:12-23 2. Creations and it’s relation to Israel a. God created the beast and God uses beast in his dealings with Israel – sheep and oxen as sacrifices – Lev 9:3, 5:7, Ravens to feed Elijah – 1Kings 17:4-6, Bears kill children in judgement 2Kings 2:22-24, Baalam & the talking donkey I. Today God uses his Spirit and his word to deal with men – 1Thess 2:13, 1Cor 2:10-14, Gal 5:16-18 b. Trees and plants as types and figures – Olive, Fig, grape – Psalm 52:8, Rom 11, Matt 21:18-20, Isaiah 5, John 15. I. God uses marriage as a type of the body of Christ showing we are one with Christ who is our head – Eph 5:22-33 c. Sun, moon, and stars for signs and seasons – Gen 1:14-18, Joshua 10:12-13, Matt 24:29-30, Acts 2:20, Rev 6:12. I. We are given no signs today – 1Cor 1:21-23, 1Cor 14:22 cf 1Cor 13:8, Eph 4:11-16. d. The day of rest – Gen 2:1-3 – Exo 31:16-18, 35:2-3, Duet 5:12-15, this is a shadow of Israel’s future rest when they enter the kingdom – Heb 4:1-11, I. Our position is not on the earth but in heavenly places – Eph 1:3, 2:6. e. This kingdom of rest is on the earth – Isa 11:6-8, Rev 22:1-5. f. Just like after creation, there will be a rest after God has completed his work on the earth.
