The economist Joseph Schumpeter popularized the phrase a century ago - and there’s more to it than meets the headlines.Just ask Dr. Russell Sobel, Professor of Economics and Entrepreneurship at The Citadel in South Carolina.On Thursday, he will talk here in Chattanooga about “Creative Destruction, Entrepreneurship and Discovery” for this year’s Burkett Miller Distinguished Lecture, hosted by the Probasco Chair of Free Enterprise - part of the Gary W. Rollins College of Business on our campus, the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.The event - at Common House, free and open to the public - starts at 5:15 PM with a cocktail reception and then a dinner during Dr. Sobel’s presentation.I spoke with him - and Dr. Claudia Williamson Kramer, the Probasco Chair here at UTC.
