After acting in various student and independent films Floyd decided to start his own production company, Gazelle Films, where he wrote and produced a feature length film, two short films and two stage plays. After the success of those ventures Floyd decided to create the Philadelphia Independent Film Awards, an award show and film festival which ran for five years until the pandemic. He then started his podcast A Conversation With Floyd Marshall Jr, where he interviews some of the most intriguing and talented people in the HollyWood and Independent Film space. Floyd is also a published author with his book Film Bizness, which is dedicated to teaching new filmmakers the business side of film. Floyd is also a mentor for Start With 8. An amazing program geared towards the mentoring of women of color in film.
