Credit unions and home loan market

Although credit unions have been able to provide mortgages for a few years. They only account for a fraction of the home loan market. Do the credit unions even have the money to lend if demand were to take off. What role will they play when the new tax efficient personal investment accounts are introduced next year?    Speaking to Joe this morning was Helen Carbery the Chief Executive of the Credit Union Development Association.
